Hope is hard to find in the cold, hungry, winter that follows the last terrible battle of the first Shadow War. Through pain and loss they have won a pause, a silence, but it is not peace, only a breathing space, and the kingdom of Eldir is on her knees.

They have enemies on every side. They are struggling to heal and rebuild, and to be ready to face the Shadow army’s next move, but there is also trouble with their neighboring human nation to the south.

The Eldir and Efrim people, and the loyal friends who have lead them this far, must pull closer together. They must find new ways to support each other, and new magical techniques, and medicines, or they won’t stand a chance.

The final battle with the lord of the Shadow is coming, but few have the strength even to face him, and his forces are vast.

They must risk everything in the last battle, and even victory could mean destruction.
